Kitui leads in new COVID-19 infections in last 24 hours

Kenya on Tuesday recorded 151 new cases COVID-19 cases, raising the country’s total to 35,356.

Health CAS Rashid Aman announced on Tuesday adding that 2,552 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative tests to 479,697.

Dr Aman noted that all were Kenyans except two who were foreigners.

For the first time since March, there were more females than males who contracted the virus in the last 24 hours at 77 and 74 respectively.

In terms of age, the youngest was a three-year-old infant while the oldest was 74 years old.

In the last 24 hours, Kitui led in the number of daily coronavirus cases with 54 cases followed by Nairobi with 23, Uasin Gishu 11, Kiambu 9, Kisii 7 and Trans Nzoia 6.

Some 173 patients recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 21,483.

A total of 107 of those discharged were from the home-based care, while 66 were discharged from various health facilities.

The number of fatalities is still 599 as there were no deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
