President Uhuru Kenyatta’s kin took many Kenyans by surprise after a public revelation that she is a recovering alcoholic.
Nana Gecaga, Uhuru’s niece, revealed at the popular Churchil show that aired on Sunday that nineteen years ago, she would drink a whole crate of beer alone and a bottle of hard liquor in one drinking spree.
But at the age of 21, she had to give up the trend which saw her lose most of her friends. She has been through a 19-year journey without taking any alcohol.
The mother of three, Udi, Jomo and Uhuru said the fight against alcohol addiction is one of the most vicious cycles a human being can undergo.
“It’s a very vicious circle, we all have challenges, we all have issues that we face; never judge a book by its cover,” said the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC) Managing Director.
Here word of advice: “The one thing I can actually say to them is, tomorrow is another day and try to live or get to that day and never too ashamed or too proud to ask for support. Kenya has a lot of support and use it.”
Just recently, Nana was an internet sensation after she spent millions in shillings during her 40th birthday held at the Lion in the Sun Resort in Malindi. The establishment is owned by Italian Billionaire Flavio Briatore.
Nana, according to Nairobi News, is the daughter to Uhuru’s elder sister, Jeni Wambui whose mother Grace Wanjiku was Mzee Jomo Kenyatta’s third wife.
She is the sister to Jomo Gecaga, who is Uhuru’s private secretary.
