The National Police Service has released images of 8 men believed to be terrorist planning on staging terror strikes in the country.

NPSC has also placed a bounty of Sh16 million on the eight terror suspects.

They include Issack Alio Mohamed, Rahim Mohamed Sheikh, Bishar Hared Hussein and Bashie Adan Osman, Abdirashid Ibrahim Osman Noor, Siyat Ibrahim Abdullahi, Abdi Ahmed Ibrahim and Mohamed Muhumed Ahmed.

A statement from the office of the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, according to the Standard, described the eight as persons “planning to infiltrate terror operatives into the country in order to stage attacks”. Some of these attempts they say.”

Issack Alio Mohamed is reportedly, the leader of the group. He is suspected to be in Borubirdeso in Somalia.

“Another group is led by Ali Dere who occasionally lives in Khadija Haji town in Somalia situated near Mandera town,” the statement by director of communication Charles Wahong’o read.

The alert comes after heightened efforts by police to combat terror. In February, two terrorists believed to be targeting bombing the Supreme Court and Parliament were arrested.

A cache of weapons including a Mitsubishi SUV laden with explosives, six AK47 guns, hand grenades and hundreds of ammunition rounds were confiscated by police in Merti, Isiolo County in id February.
