Leonard Gwaru Mwamba, a Jubilee candidate for Kitutu Chache South parliamentary seat passed away Friday after a tragic car crash.
The candidate’s vehicle veered off the road along the Kisumu-Kisii highway. He dies while undergoing treatment at Christa Marianne Hospital.
Mwamba was traveling in the company of four other people in a Toyota Prado. One of them died on the spot.
According to Local police boss Hassan Abdi, the vehicle lost control as he tried to avoid hitting a child who was crossing the road. The child too was hit and passed away from the wounds.
Mwamba was heading to a campaign rally in Kiong’ong’i, where he had planned to donate shoes to area residents.
Jubilee party members expressed shock at his death.
