Kenya Airways has been ordered by the Employment, Labor and Relations Court to immediately reinstate sacked over 130 sacked engineers and technicians.

Judge Hellen Wasilwa on said the lives of passengers aboard KQ planes were in peril as they have not been serviced since the engineers were sacked.

The over 130 staff were sacked following their push for better pay. Among those sacked were staff in-charge of technical workshops, cabin and in-flight entertainment, base and line maintenance, multi-crew cooperation and technical assistance.

The airline went ahead to advertise their position as vacant and called for applications from qualified candidates.

“Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for engineers and technicians,” read the advert placed on one of the national dailies in the country.

The engineers are responsible for conducting and certifying all inspections, repairs and replacement tasks on aircraft and aircraft systems.
