The National Super Alliance is kicking out billionaire businessman Jimmy Wanjigi in its fresh round of campaigns ahead of repeat polls on October 17.

NASA is regrouping in a move to shape up for a grueling 54-days campaign against Jubilee Party.

An insider within the coalition says NASA leadership is sending anyone they feel did not deliver in the last campaigns to bay.

This time round, they want an effective team to run their campaigns in a better and organized manner.

Wanjigi according to the Star; was expelled from the team after NASA leaders retreated in Kilaguni, Taita Taveta to plot their campaign.

They felt that he had promised much but did not deliver as expected.

“The Principals were clear in their assessment that Wanjigi had promised so much and delivered almost nothing to the campaign,” said a source close to NASA leadership.

In particular, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula told Raila they did not want Wanjigi in the team anymore as “he did not help NASA as expected and instead caused the team problems.”

Wanjigi had promised to pay for production of NASA’s media advertisements, tallying centre and poll agents towards the run-up to August 8 polls but he did not deliver as expected.

NASA, Secretariat Chief Willis Otieno has also been pushed out.

He is said to have been working with Wanjigi closely and failed to implement NASA’s agenda.

Close allies to NASA leader said he was the source friction in the coalition.

He cited that Wanjigi was behind the watering-down of NASA’s original manifesto and came engineered a new one which did not please certain circles in the opposition.

The second manifesto focused on unapproved mega projects instead of the original which focused on ending corruption, ethnic inclusivity and creation of employment among other things.

NASA will instead elevate Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and Johnstone Muthama to head resource mobilization which was previously a preserve for Wanjigi.

Economist David Ndii will head the Strategy team.
