Raila cancels Nyeri NASA rally with no explanation

NASA Presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga has cancelled a political rally he was to hold in Nyeri this weekend.

This comes a fortnight after President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy ‘ignored’ him when he attended Madaraka Day fete held at Kabiru-ini grounds in Nyeri County on June 1.

Raila said he was ignored since he was not given a chance to address the public despite his stature as a national leader.

(ODM) communications director Phillip Etale said they made changes depending on circumstances.

The party had on Sunday released a programme indicating Raila would tour Nyeri and Laikipia counties on Friday and on Saturday; would proceed to Kiambu.

But in the new changes, he will be in Kajiado County on June 15, and on Saturday, June 16, he will tour Meru and TharakaNithi.

They said Raila will tour Nyeri soon.

“He is admired here and residents want to hear from him. I spoke to his office and I was told he will eventually visit.” Said one ODM official

“He has supporters here and in the General Election he will get a chunk of the votes notwithstanding the notion that this is a Jubilee zone,” said Kiruta as told by Daily Nation.

“Mr. Odinga is active in Opposition and keeps government on its toes and that is the same way he would be active as head of government. He can perform the same way President Kibaki performed though he had initially been rejected by voters but after elections he did surprises.” He added.
