Caroline Wanjiku was killed with blunt object, autopsy reveals

An autopsy report on the death of Caroline Wanjiku Maina has been released.

Wanjiku, 38, was murdered and her body dumped in a thicket in Kajiado where it was discovered last week.

According to the report, Dr Charles Muturi a pathologist who conducted the six-hour autopsy at the Kenyatta University Research and Referral Hospital morgue said that she was hit on the head severally.

The blunt force trauma killed her.

Her eyes has been gouged out, and her body had bruises on the hips. Her wrists and arms had injuries too suggesting that she may have been dragged around and tortured.

Four suspects have been arrested as police conclude investigations. They are Samuel Okoth, Mercy Gitiri, Stevenson Oduor and Edwin Otieno.

Wanjiku’s gruesome murder has been linked to a Ksh20 million payout from a tender she had the government.

The four suspects were partners in the construction company that she managed.

According to police statements from the four suspects, Wanjiku, a mother of one allegedly failed to distribute the money amongst them as promised.

On February 12 when she was abducted, Wanjiku is reportedly said to have withdrawn Ksh350,000 at a bank in Nairobi and then left for Ngara where she was to meet one of her partners who is a now a suspect.

She also called her friend, and informed that she was to meet one of the suspects and that she wanted to add more shares with Stima Sacco.

Little did she know that it was this female friend she trusted with her life who would snitch on her.

However, when she got to Ngara, she was bundled into an already waiting Toyota Crown where the suspect was waiting.

Two other got on board and handcuffed her.

In their statements, they said that they did not expect her to come with Ksh350,000 only.

They will be charged with murder on Friday.
