Bombolulu residents in Kisauni Constituency, Mombasa are up in arms over increased insecurity attributed to a female terror gang.

The knife-wielding female gangsters- Wakware Babies, have now turned to be a sore especially in Frere Town that has now turned to be the most dangerous town in the coastal city.

A cleric who was attacked recently narrated his ordeal saying he was beaten up before being robbed of his valuables.

“I was coming from a church service when around 12 women armed with knives surrounded me and demanded money,” he told Daily Nation.

He added: “Perhaps because one of them was familiar, they beat me up and let me go after I surrendered all the money I had.”

Two other victims of the all-female gang are in hospital nursing injuries. They were attacked a few days after the cleric was attacked in Frere Town.

Residents who leave work late or those coming from fundraiser meetings to offset funeral expenses have been a huge target of the all-female terror gang.

These attacks saw Mombasa police commander Johnstone Ipara ban night weddings on April 12, a decision that was rescinded on by the regional police boss Noah Mwivanda a week later after public outcry.

“Night weddings can continue; we have no authority over such, ours is to provide security in the sense that the couple or their families should make sure that they notify the police before going about their ceremonies,” said Mwivanda according to Daily Nation.

The residents now feel the rise in insecurity is as a result of laxity in the security apparatus.

However, between the months of February and March, 14 gang members were killed by police officers.

Last month, 5 gang members were killed in Kisauni, Likoni and Nyali constituencies by police officers while three others were suspected to be gang members were lynched by mobs.
