ODM National Treasurer and Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has welcomed President Uhuru Kenyatta and his team to Gusii land for a two-day visit.

Uhuru together with his Deputy William Ruto will visit Kisii and Nyamira counties.

Today, Uhuru is expected to address rallies at Masimba, Keroka, Keumbu, Jogoo (Kisii town), Nyatieko, Nyakoe, Suneka and Tabaka.

On Wednesday, he will head to Nyamira where he will address rallies at Ikonge, Ekerenyo, Nyamaiya, Nyamira, Kimera, Magombo, Rigoma and Nyansiongo areas.

However, Bosire has told the President to forget getting any votes from Gusii community.

“We have no problem with the President going anywhere and everywhere. We cannot do what they did to us in Kapsabet on Sunday where they attempted to disrupt our rally,” he said as quoted by the Star.

“We do not have them at heart. Our resolve to support NASA is resolute,” he added.

He noted Jubilee has not been able to address the issue of settling IDPs from Kisii who are victims of 2007-08 post-election violence.

“There are fundamental issues of national nature like compensation of IDPs who were displaced during the 2007 post-election violence. IDPs from Kisii were not compensated and we have consistently raised the issue but it has not been addressed,” noted Bosire.

He also hit out Jubilee citing while tea farming is the main economic activity in Gusii land, Jubilee has mismanaged the sector and tea farmers live in poverty.

“Tea is the mainstay of Kisii and the sector has been ruined due to mismanagement sending thousands into abject poverty. This regime has impoverished more Kenyans.”

He also said that the community has not benefitted from national appointments as well as previous infrastructural projects commissioned by Uhuru have been abandoned.

“They launch construction of roads in Kisii and Nyamira but the following day, the construction companies abandon the site. These appointments go to particular prominent families.”

Jubilee has described Gusii land as Swing County but NASA maintains its support is rock solid.
