Three months after celebrated Kenyan disc jockey George Waweru alias Dj  Kalonje lost his studio equipment to a demolition squad, he has opened a new one worth millions of shillings.

Unknown people invaded a piece of property belonging to his father which housed his studio and flattened it after looting his studio equipment.

He lost an estimated Sh7 million.

But the CEO  of Mix Masters Entertainment has opened a new studio in Pangani area, Nairobi.

“I have partnered with Dj Carlos to open a new studio in Pangani. I’m basically starting over after I lost my 10-year investment in Eastleigh,” he told Nairobi News.

He said he is yet to be compensated for the loss he suffered when his father’s property was demolished in unclear circumstances last year.

“I have not yet been compensated and the matter is still in court,” he said. “I have used over Sh500, 000. The fifth hearing is scheduled for April.”

He said since then, his father has been in and out of hospital.

Dj Kalonje has put Kenya’s name on the map. He has performed gigs in the US, Australia, Middle East and East Africa.

When he started deejaying, his music mixes first got to the city’s matatu industry which catapulted him to stardom.
