Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has warned Raila Odinga of executing his “swearing-in” plan on December 12 stating it is tantamount to courting death.

The vocal Jubilee politician known for his hard-hitting statements told Raila to “go home to his wife” after being sworn-in.

“The constitution is clear that you can’t have two presidents. When you (Raila) are sworn in, go home to your wife, not to state house,” he said at St Massimo Catholic Church at Mikinduri, Meru County on Sunday as quoted by the Star.

Raila on Tuesday announced he will be sworn-in as the President on December 12 through the People’s Assembly.

His pronouncement has generated heat within Kenya’s political circles. He is not backing down at all.

On Saturday, he sent out invitation cards to key figures who will be attending his alleged swearing in.

Raila has repeatedly said he does not recognize Uhuru Kenyatta as the President.

On Saturday, he told NASA supporters in Ugunja that Uhuru’s term will not reach 2022.

But Kuria said Raila’s plan was fatal as he will be courting death.

The legislator told the former Prime Minister that the country is not his.

“Being sworn in will mean you have committed treason and the punishment of treason is death by hanging. I tell Raila that Kenya is not his,” Kuria jibed the former PM.

He said Kenyans will only recognize Uhuru as the duly elected President.

Uhuru was sworn-in for a second term on Tuesday together with his Deputy William Ruto.

Hitherto, the two leaders have not spoken about Raila’s fresh swearing-in plan.

However, it is expected to further put a stretch on an already strained relationship between opposition and the government.

Kuria also rubbished NASA plan to establish the People’s Assembly.

He said it is not relevant in today’s democracy though opposition’s role is to keep the government of the day in check.
