NASA head strategist Dr David Ndii has been arrested over incitement charges.

Ndii, a renowned economist was arrested on Sunday evening in a Kwale County beach resort.

He was shuttled to Nairobi through the night and he is expected to record a statement with the officers from the Serious Crimes Unit today.

It is alleged the economist has been meeting groups of people at the Leopard Beach resort in Diani to move the secession talk.

His arrest was broken by Raila Odinga’s spokesperson David Onyango on Sunday night via twitter.

“They want to go back to his Leopard Beach Hotel in Kwale and pick (up) computer and laptop for the information they need,” read another part of his tweet.

He was taken to Diani Police Station. Raila’s Odinga’s daughter Winnie Odinga was spotted at the station but she said police did not talk to her.

His wife Mwende Ndii,  said he was with him at the Leopard Beach Resort when seven Flying Squad officers pounced on him.

On Monday, a source at the DCI confirmed to the Star that they had him in custody.

“It is true that we have him. He will record a statement with us,” said the DCI source based at its headquarters along Kiambu road.

Ndii was on Friday named the head of a seven-member team tasked with organizing the People’s Assembly.

The People’s Assembly motion by NASA as so far been passed in 11 counties.

The latest County Assembly to pass the motion is Kwale.

This is despite a court order by a Kitui High Court that banned the 47 county assemblies from discussing the motion or implementing it.

Reports have it that Mombasa County Assembly is set to pass the motion on Wednesday.

Coast leaders have been pushing for secession, a debate first triggered by Ndii after the bungled August 8 polls.

NASA now claims that his arrest is linked to his role in formation of the People’s Assembly.

The People’s Assembly is opposition’s conduit to restore democracy and electoral sanity.
