A team constituted by NASA and tasked with planning Raila Odinga’s alleged swearing-in has decried intimidation by government.

The seven-member team unveiled on Friday led by NASA strategist David Ndii is reportedly says their effort to plan the event is being met with resistance by government.

According to Daily Nation, the team held a closed door meeting at Okoa Kenya in Lavington Nairobi.

Details of the meeting were kept as a closed secret.

However, an insider at the meeting revealed that the planned swearing-in for Raila and his running mate Kalonzo Muyoka was a top item at the meeting.

It emerged that some protégées within NASA are strongly opposed to the plan.

They argue that such will further strain a dented relationship with Jubilee regime.

Questions about the legality and symbolism of the event came up during the meeting.

The team is being led by Ndii who was arrested on Sunday in Kwale County.

He has been shuttled to Nairobi where he is expected to record a statement with the Serious Crime Unit.

At the meeting, a chairperson leading the team was not elected over the fear that he/she might become target of the state.

“There is a legitimate fear within the committee that picking one to chair it will invite ridicule and unnecessary attacks from the State, which would derail our work,” added the source.

The committee is tasked with guiding, facilitating and co-coordinating the programme of the various people’s assemblies across the country.

Besides Ndii, other members of the committee include: nominated Senator Judy Sijeny, Hamida Kibwana, Dr Mutakha Kangu, Oduor Ong’wen, Koitamet ole Kina, ex-EALA MP Peter Mathuki.

Raila has refused to recognize President Uhuru Kenyatta as Kenya’s President even after the repeat October 26 polls.
