A Nairobi Court ordered for the deportation of a Nigerian man, Okeke Patrick Godwin Chukwudu who has been in the country for the last six years without proper documentation.

Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi ordered the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet and the Immigration Department to immediately comply with the order.

“The Inspector General of the National Police Service to liaise with the Director of Immigration to ensure the accused person is deported this evening. You must be on a flight to Nigeria this evening,” ruled Andayi on Wednesday according to Nairobi News.

Okeke is reportedly said to have been preying on women in Nairobi for survival.

“He has no business or residence in Kenya but preys on women whom he conned and moves on to another Kenyan,” argued the prosecution team led by Solomon Naulikha.

He was arrested on April 9 along Limuru Road without any valid documentation allowing him to be in the country.

In court, the 56-year old Nigerian national pleaded guilty to the charges.

In his defense, he told the magistrate that his Nigerian passport was confiscated by his ‘Kenyan wife’ after a domestic row.

He further said that he had notified the Nigerian embassy in Kenya about the issue with the hope of getting new documentation to regularize his stay in the country.

But, Okeke failed to adduce evidence before the court that he had indeed tried to regularize his stay in Kenya given he has been in the country without any valid documentation since 2010.

Naulikha told the trial magistrate that Okeke was arrested in possession of a vehicle belonging to one Valentine Arigi who had reported it missing therefore; opposed his release on bond terming him a flight risk.

In a rejoinder outside the courts, Okeke said the plan to frame him was engineered by his Kenyan wife to ensure he is deported.

“I bought the vehicle in 2015 from Judy Maneka and my wife set me up with police and I will make sure she will not use my vehicle,” said he as further told by Nairobi News.
