Ten students from Jamhuri High School in Nairobi are nursing serious injuries after a night of fight between the students on Tuesday.

Some of the students who have been admitted to hospital are nursing stab wounds. Some have been discharged.

Reports from some of the students indicate their colleagues were armed with knives and other crude weapons.

How they got to the school is still a mystery.

The start of the fight is said to have been fuelled by religious discrimination at the school pitting the school’s principal Fred Awour and the students.

Awour was also injured during the overnight brawl.

Speaking to journalists at the school on Wednesday, Awour said everything has been contained and that such “small” issues always happen in schools.

He also said they are aware of the happenings at the school and they will handle the issue amicably.

Earlier, Nairobi County Police Commander Japeth Koome was at the school to conduct investigations into what could have triggered the violence at the institution.

The school will remain closed until Monday as investigations continue.
