Tanzania names street after Harambee Stars Captain Victor Wanyama

The Democratic Republic of Tanzania has honoured Kenya’s Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama by naming a street leading to a stadium after him.

The street leading to Kinesi stadium was named “Wanyama Street” and was unveiled by Tanzania’s Mayor Boniface Jacob.

Wanyama had attended a local match at the stadium on Saturday during his holiday.

Soon after he was honoured, the player took to his Instagram to thank Tanzania for naming the street after him.

“I thank the Mayor and residents Municipality of Ubongo for the warm reception and more so naming a road after me. I promise to come and visit again and I am grateful for the warm reception,” he wrote.

His new honour in Tanzania comes barely a week after he was crowned as 2017 Kenya’s sports personality of the year.
