President Uhuru Kenyatta has urged immediate former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto to leave the opposition and join Jubilee.

During the swearing-in ceremony of Bomet Governor Dr Joyce Laboso yesterday, Uhuru held out an olive branch to the Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) boss.

The President said Jubilee has no reservation against anyone and that Ruto should move to Jubilee and quit NASA.

“We in Jubilee have no fights with anyone. We are not in resentment with anyone and so we urge you to leave those people in the other camp and join us,” said the President as quoted by the Star.

However, the CCM boss and a NASA principal did not say whether he will quit NASA and join Jubilee or not.

He only said “I will soon be telling you of my next move.”

Uhuru also lauded the Governor for accepting defeat. He said this shows he was a “true gentleman”.

“By doing so, you gave shown that you are a real gentleman.”

Ruto said time has come for him to leave.

He urged Bomet residents to support Laboso’s government and urged her to continue from where he left.

“I did all I could and it is now time for the incoming governor to continue from where I left,” said the former Governor.

He assured Laboso that he will not interfere with her work at all and that he will always be ready to offer a hand of help.

Last week, he said he was ready for nomination to Parliament on an ODM ticket to take up the position of Leader of Minority.

And with the exit of KNUT Secretary-General Wilson Sossion who had been slotted for nomination to Parliament on ODM Party, it remains to be seen if Ruto will head to Parliament.
