Kitui’s COVID-19 cases increasing as tally hits 35,793

Kenya on Friday recorded 190 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of cases to 35,793.

While issuing the COVID-19 daily brief, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said that 4,609 samples were tested in the last 24 hours bringing the total number of samples tested so far to 490,455.

Out of the 190 positive cases, 182 are Kenyans while eight are foreigners with 136 males and 54 females among the new cases.

The youngest patient is one-year-old while the oldest is 85 years old.

In the same vein, another 395 patients recovered from the virus. Of the 395, 116 were from home-based care program and 279 from hospitals across the country, bringing the total number of recoveries to 22,442.

Sadly, four patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 616.

Nairobi had the highest cases in the last 24 hours with 65 spread out in Roysambu which had 14, Dagoretti North and Lang’ata eight cases each, Embakasi East and Starehe with five cases each.

Embakasi South and Westlands recorded four cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi Central, Kamukunji, Kibra and Madaraka two cases each. Embakasi North, Mathare, Kasarani and Ruaraka all had one case each.

Kitui County observed an increase with 27 cases, Mombasa 16, UAsin Gishu 13, Embu 10, Kisii 9, Garissa 6, Kajiado 6, Kiambu 6, Machakos 4, Nakuru 4, Meru 4, Kericho 4, Narok 4, Kisumu 2, Trans Nzoia 2, Bomet 2, Busia 2, Murang’a 1, Bungoma 1, Kakamega 1 and Kilifi 1.
