Bishop Gilbert Deya remanded six days in Kamiti after extradition

The famed televangelist Gilbert Deya was on Friday remanded in Kamiti Maximum Prison by the High Court as his bond is being determined.

The bishop was extradited from London and arrived in Kenya on Friday morning.

He was charged the same day of his arrival with five counts of child stealing.

Deya allegedly stole five children under 14 years old between 2002 and 2004 at Mountain View Estate. The bishop denied all charges before the chief magistrate Francis Andayi.

His defense attorney argued that Deya has been cooperative in all conditions set for him by a London Court, adding that he has no travel documents on his and so he can not flee the country.

The defense team said Deya will not interfere with the investigations.

Deya will be staying in Syokimau where his son bought him a house as he attends court.
