A 36-year-old woman from Nanyuki, Esther Njeri has been arrested for pulling her kids out of school.
Njeri is a holder of two bachelor degrees but now claims that schooling her children has satanic elements.
The two kids are aged 13 and eight years. The 13-year-old girl is in Form Two and the eight-year-old boy is in primary school.
She was apprehended after area Chief was informed by concerned neighbours about this move.
The Chief in the company of village elders stormed Njeri’s home where they found the two kids in the house.
They did not report on January 4 when all schools resumed after a 10-month hiatus due to COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Citizen Digital, Njeri had been talking to her friends about the existence of alleged “satanic” forces in the education curriculum.
She also asked her close friends and family to repent as the world was coming to an end before the end of 2021.
The irony is that Njeri has a degree in Accounting and another one in commerce.
After her arrest, she remained adamant likening her woes to those of biblical Shadrack, Meshack and Abdenego. She said that she is ready to face the Kenyan justice system for something she believes in.
In December, President Uhuru Kenyatta tasked the Interior Ministry through Chiefs to ensure that all children resume learning at the beginning of 2021.
Through collaboration with the Education Ministry, more than 90 percent of learners have resumed learning.
