Nelly Lasoi, was among scores of traders within the city whose businesses were looted to the last item while others were destroyed during Raila Odinga’s return from a 10-day visit in the US on November 17.

Lasoi painfully appealed for help from Kenyans through social media after her clothing boutique where she had invested all her lifetime savings was looted by rogue NASA supporters.

A week before the looting at her premises, she had re-stocked with the hope of making good sales before the end of November.

And with the Kenyan team spirit, Lasoi is back in business, thanks to philanthropy from Kenyans.

She received Sh300, 000 from well-wishers who donated through a Paybill number she gave for the funds drive.

Her friends came together and held a mini fundraiser that got her more funds to start her business once again.

Hitherto, she cannot thank Kenyans enough for reaching giving her a hand of held when she needed it badly.

“I received about Sh300, 000 from people that I did not know of, I will be forever grateful to Kenyans for the support,” she told Nairobi News.

Her shop is newly renovated with newly-arrived stock.

“I was able to renovate the shop and went on to restock for Christmas and I’m glad to be back on my feet one month after the incident. Now I will be able to earn an income from my business.

“I am overwhelmed by what Kenyans did for me, this was not about one community as even from the contributions, I could tell money was being sent by Kenyans from across the country all united to get me back on feet.”
