IEBC assures Kenyans smooth transmission of results from areas lacking network coverage

11, 155 out of 40, 883 polling stations lack reliable network to transmit election results, but presiding officers will move for better signal using Satellite phones to transmit results.

Kisii is the most affected with 922 stations lacking the 3G and 4G GSM network coverage followed by Murang’a with 912 and Homa Bay with 892.

Others are Busia with 641, Migori, 528 and Kirinyaga 461 Machakos with seven polling stations.

The poll agency has assured Kenyans that even with poor or no network coverage in some areas, results will still be transmitted to the National Tallying Centre.

IEBC has taken all measures to ensure the polls will be free and fair.

In the issue of dead voters, the commission has maintained that Kenya Integrated Electoral Management System (KIEMS) will only identify the biometrics of genuine voters.

Chairman Wafula Chebukati said they have a duty to ensure they give Kenyans credible polls.
