A battery of lawyers representing President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have embarked on readying for a petition filed by NASA at the Supreme Court challenging Uhuru’s victory.

The lawyers spent the better part of Saturday preparing for the trial that will seal NASA’s Raila Odinga’s fate in politics.

Top Jubilee Party officials joined the lawyers as they put their best legal wits into place to draw up their defense.

On Friday NASA lodged its petition with the Supreme Court.

NASA’s petition has 24 pages with annexures and affidavits coming up to 25,000 pages.

According to the Sunday Nation, Jubilee has dedicated its resources to the team of legal minds in effort to secure victory at the Supreme Court.

Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju said that they will only reply to what deserves a reply.

“We’re looking at the petition. But you realize it is IEBC (Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission) that declared the results and, therefore, our response will only be in relevant areas,” said the JP Secretary-General.

He also said that they will accept the outcome of petititon.

“They tell us they won the presidency but circumstantial evidence shows us otherwise. We have the majority in Parliament and also majority governors,” added Tuju.

Raila on Saturday while attending the burial of Slain IEBC ICT Director Chris Msando said they will not let go of their victory.

He said he moved to court to have the will of Kenyans served.

“This time round election thieves must let go as Kenyans are tired of oppressive leadership,” maintained Raila.

He also said that should the Court find fault with the polls, a fresh election should be conducted in line with the Constitution.

A section of Jubilee politicians who are lawyers by profession have said there is no cause for alarm.

“I have read Nasa’s petition and their prayers. There is nothing to worry about. The truth will set us free.”

“Once again the win of President Uhuru and DP Ruto will be confirmed by the Supreme Court,” tweeted Elgeyo Marakwet Senator-elect Kipchumba Murkomen.
