Jubilee stalwarts in Rift Valley tell Raila to expect no votes from region

Jubilee stalwarts in Rift Valley have laughed of NASA’s bid to harvest votes from the region on August 8.

Led by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, Rift Valley politicians allied to Jubilee Party said the Raila Odinga led outfit will get nothing at all.

“They are banking on imaginary figures which are very unrealistic to achieve for them,” said Murkomen as the Star tells.

He said NASA’s 10 million strong tag is fantasy.

“Many of their supporters have trooped to Jubilee and we wonder where they will get the votes they are talking about.”

NASA has taunted Jubilee that it has made forays in the area especially with Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto joining the opposition outfit.

Ruto after joining NASA pledged to deliver the coalition 1.5 million votes.

He said that he has South Rift region and part of the wider Rift Valley have decided to vote for NASA since Jubilee has not fulfilled promises it made in 2013.

But Jubilee has come out to defend itself from the accusations saying that they have delivered.

Jubilee has also accused the opposition of peddling falsehoods to gain political mileage in its strongholds.

On Friday Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju hit out at the coalition terming them as a conglomerate of corrupt cartels.

Tuju said NASA has provided shelter to graft cartels.

“Our country is in danger of being overrun by a ruthless cartel. This cartel has already taken NASA hostage. It has even made the party prepare two manifestos. One to hoodwink Kenyans and the second to take care of grand corruption projects they intend to repay themselves with after funding NASA campaigns,” he said at JP headquarters as Daily Nation reports.
