Kenyan student, 21, arrested by Indian police in possession of narcotics worth Sh3.8m

A Kenyan student in India was arrested on Sunday in possession of narcotics in India.

The 21-year old Elijah Malcom Onyango was found in possession of narcotics worth Sh3.8 million during a sting operation by Canacona anti-narcotics police at Palolem.

Canacona anti-narcotics police boss PI Rajendra Prabhudessai according to Nairobi News said Onyango was intercepted by the anti-narcotics team at the entrance of Palolem beach very early in the morning following a tip off by members of the public.

Onyango will now be charged with illegal possession of commercial quantity of cocaine, two perforated sheets and (LSD) and 20 ecstasy tablets according to the police boss.

The Kenyan student who is now under Indian police custody is from Suna, in Migori County.

In India, he lives in Kolhapur, Maharashtra.

The Kenyan Embassy in Delhi will be informed about his arrest since he is a foreigner.

According to Prabhudessai, they are required to notify the Foreigner Regional Registration Office (FRRO) in Panjim about Onyango arrest and the office in turn, communicates the same to the Kenyan Embassy in India.
