Matiang’i under fire as NASA politician vows to block his re-appointment

An opposition MP has threatened to rally his counterparts from the coalition in rejecting the re-appointment of Education Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i.

Lugari MP Ayub Savula said the CS has thrown the Education sector into disarray with his “rushed reforms” in the ministry.

“Matiang’i is overplaying things in a way that makes Kenyans think he is the best, but he is a disaster. He should not head the Education ministry… NASA MPs will reject the name in Parliament should he be reappointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta,” the legislator told the Star.

Savula said that Matiang’i has done more harm than good in Kenya’s education sector because he is always in a rush to institute reforms.

Citing the hurried marking and release of K.C.S.E, Savula said this is a conduit towards messing up the lives of the candidates.

“There has been an unnecessary rush by the CS on exams and other reforms. These are messing up the lives of our children.”

He spoke against a rising tide against Matiang’i after TSC instituted a raft of reforms in the education sector including the transfer of 557 school heads.

KNUT through its Secretary General Wilson Sossion yesterday issued a strike notice saying should TSC not rescind on its decision, there will be no learning in all public schools starting January 2.
