Principal who posted KCSE mathematics paper on her WhatsApp status arrested

A principal from Machakos County, Betta Mutuku of ABC Kiseveni Secondary School has been arrested over exam theft allegations.

It is alleged that Mutuku posted the contents of KCSE Mathematics Paper II on her Whatsapp status.

Her students were able to view the paper before sitting for the exam on Tuesday morning.

A contingent of police officers led by Machakos DCIO Rhoda Kanyi visited her at the school offices where she said that she was sent the paper by an unknown number.

She was then whisked away to the police station for questioning.

Police say that she had the mathematics paper posted on her WhatsApp since Monday evening.

He phone has since been confiscated as investigations continue.

A week ago, Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha said that there are reports of the second exam papers being tampered with.

He said that the ministry is “extra vigilant” and firmly in control.

Five days ago, police in Busia apprehended two KCSE students and a university student over alleged exam cheating.

Police found English Paper 3 and Chemistry Paper 2 together with their answers in their smartphones, Busia Sub-County DCI Bernard Wamalwa confirmed.
