Strathmore University lecturer is in police custody following the death of his wife on January 1, New Year.

When he appeared at the Kibera Law Courts on Wednesday morning, police requested that Dr. Fredrick Onyango Ogolla, a lecturer at Strathmore Business School be detained for 10 days as they conclude their investigations into his death.

Ogolla is alleged to have clobbered his wife, Margaret Gobi Mwachongo on New Year’s Eve at their Lavington home.

Police say that the physical fight between Margaret and her husband led to her death.

“She was taken to hospital unconscious after that evening fight but she succumbed to her injuries,” Nairobi County Police Commander Japeth Koome said according to Daily Nation.

Ogolla, the Academic Director of MBA programmes, Director of the Institute of Strategy and Competitiveness and senior lecturer of Strategy and Decision Making at the Strathmore Business School later condoled his wife in a facebook post.

He wrote: “To my friends on FB, what happened was too painful that I have been unable to believe and that’s why I didn’t update you, my lovely wife left me and went to the lord. It’s so hurting in as much as it is hard to express. Rip my love.”

He later shared pictures of his deceased wife who has left behind a seven-week old baby.

The death of Margaret, known to her peers as Bex Becky was a rude shock to her friends on social media.

“We spoke on 31st December. You were gone on 1st. But why is the world so evil! Why are people so heartless? And what is to become of your 6-week-old baby. Oh Bex Becky (her name on Facebook) rest with the angels. May justice be served,” wrote a friend, Ruth Ambogo.
