Fifteen minutes after their takeoff, a report of their arrest was made to the airline.

In response to the arrest, the airlines management said it is aware of the matter and is working towards getting at the bottom of it.

“The airline is aware of the incident and is working with relevant authorities to get to the bottom of it,” it said according to the Star adding, “All members of crew are trained on regulations and laws and are expected to adhere to them at all times.”

A fortnight ago, two other KQ staff members were arrested over their links to a drug trafficking ring all over the globe.

A multi-agency team in a sting operation stormed one of the planes, KQ 870 before taking off and impounded an assortment of hard drugs destined for Hong-Kong, China.

They weighed 4kgs and their street value was estimated to be millions of shillings.

Daniel Koech and Paul Omondi, crew members were arrested over their involvement with the drug ring and are facing drug peddling charges.

They are also believed to have been working with former employees of the airline.

China, Netherlands and India are common destinations for narcotics peddled by the drug network involving KQ staff.
