UK-based preacher Gilbert Deya wants police restrained from harassing him when he lands in Kenya

The famed controversial preacher Gilbert Deya is asking for friendly reception from the Kenya police when he goes back to Kenya.

Deya is facing extradition from the UK to stand trial for allegedly stealing 5 children from Pumwani Maternity Hospital and smuggling them to promote his “miracle babies” scheme. He worked as a security guard at the hospital.

In an application by Lawyer John Swaka before Lady Justice Ngenye Macharia on Wednesday, Deya is said to be ready to go back to Kenya but is worried that police would arrest, mistreat and shame him pretending to be investigating him.

His wife, May Deya was exonerated of the offense and Deya is optimistic that the same will happen to him.

“Archbishop Deya’s wife, Mary Deya, was of the offenses and he is confident that the same will happen to him and is ready to present himself before the authorities,” says lawyer Swaka in court papers as reported by Daily Nation.

His lawyer said all Deya wants is the protection of the court and the assurance of his safety and liberty.

”He is ready to present himself to authorities” added lawyer Swaka
