The United States has shut down its Resource Centre in Kenya in a looming shortfall of finances.

The American Embassy in Kenya on Monday said the centre will remain closed until further notice.

“In accordance with instruction from Washington, the American Resource Center at the US Embassy in Nairobi is closed until further notice. We appreciate your understanding,” reads the statement in part.

The centre plays a crucial role in educating Kenyans seeking to know more about the Donald Trump led country.

All services offered here are free. It also offers online resources for free.

The centre is located in Gigiri, in one of the complex housing the US Embassy has over time played host to journalists, researchers, teachers among other professionals who have an inclination to learning more about the US.

At the centre, Law, legislation and justice; Health and HIV/AIDS, media and information technology and US society and values are among the common topics covered.

Kenyans seeking to get membership at the Resource Centre is absolutely free. One is only required to fill an online membership form.

The privileges enjoyed at the Resource Centre include free internet, eLibraryUSA, eGranary, 4000 books, US magazines, videos and audio books.

Questions relating to visas to US or any other consular matter are, however, not answered at the Resource Centre.
