Days after a clip went viral showing a man enjoying ugali in a unique style, fortunes have changed for Charles Odongo.

He is the viral ‘ugali man’ who struck Kenyans with his love for ugali and his eating style.

A few days ago, he received a Ksh5 million cheque and a brand new car from a betting company in Kenya.

Further, he was named the firm’s brand ambassador.

He told Bonga na Jalas on Monday that he also got his gym in Ongata Rongai refurbished with brand new and state-of-the-art equipment.

Odongo has been working at the gym for years now. The gym instructor says he inherited the passion for fitness from his father who was a boxer.

He lost his job when the pandemic struck forcing him to open a small gym where he used handcrafted gym equipment.

“I used to work at a gym. However, I lost my job when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out. My dad asked me to save on rent and I relocated to our home where I built a small mabati shack,” he recalled.

Now, he is a happy man after the betting firm changed his life’s fortunes.

“I am proud of the far I have come with this betting company that has held my hand since day one,” he said.

Odongo said he never gave up and urged the youth not to give up too because opportunities are there.

“Do not give up on any startup. Push hard. For me, I will own a full gym fitted with all the required equipment. I can’t believe it – thanks to the betting company for sponsoring me,” he stated.
