Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has warned government will not relent on cracking the whip on hatemongers.

In statement on Monday, the CS said anyone issuing inflammatory statements, will be arrested irrespective of his social standing or political affiliation.

He said the law will not be applied selectively when it comes to fighting the vice.

“Some people think that if they come from the ruling party, the law is not for them. We will be firm,” said Matiang’i as quoted by Daily Nation.

His sentiments seem to have been inspired by arrest of two legislators on Monday.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama were arrested and locked up at Pangani Police Station.

They are said to have issued statements amounting to hatespeech though police did not issued an official statement on their arrest.

Matiang’i said politicians from Jubilee and NASA who dare incite the public will meet the full wrath of the law.

“We have stopped talking on what we are going to do, we will do it. We will take action and you will witness.”
