2017 K.C.P.E results ready a month earlier than in previous years

This year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (K.C.P.E) results will be released today.

The results come a month earlier than in previous years.

Education Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i is currently at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development where the results will be released.

He said this year’s highest score was 400 marks out of 500 marks.

He also said there was no single irregularity reported.

“We did not record any irregularities. Every one of our children is getting results with an accuracy rate of 98 per cent. No single case of malpractice was registered and there were no missing marks,” said the CS.

All candidates who scored 400 marks and above will be placed in National schools.

Earlier, he had said they employed use of technology, optical machines in marking of the papers.

The optical scanners, 20 of them were procured by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) at a cost of sh90 million.

The council has been using obsolete scanners which have now been replaced by the new optical machines.

In this year’s K.C.P.E, a total of 1, 003, 556 standard eight pupils sat for their national exams in 28, 566 centres across the country.

Before heading to KICD, the Education CS presented the results to President Uhuru Kenyatta at his Harambee House office.
