An air of grief has struck Kenyans after the death of a popular Churchill Show comedian Emmanuel Makori alias Ayeiya.

The death of the veteran comedian hit the headlines Friday morning after he was involved in a fatal road accident along Lang’ata road near Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA).

Confirmed reports indicate the car hit a power post killing the comedian instantly.

He was riding along with his wife, comedian Paul Wakimkani Ogutu and actor Maina Olwenya.

His wife and Ogutu were quickly rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) where they are recuperating.

Churchill show brainchild Daniel Ndambuki alias Churchill condoled with the family of the late comedian.

“@MwalimuChurchil We are waking up to very sad news of the passing of one of our comedians, Emmanuel MAkori (AKA) Our thoughts and prayers are with his family,” he posted on his twitter page.

Fellow comedian @MCA tricky wrote: “Rip ayeiya we will miss you.”

He was loved within Kenyan circles mostly for his,”Ayeiya, poa poa” punch line that often threw many down with fits of laughter.

His jokes resonated well with all classes of people and he would often steal the show after ending with a sheng-fashioned call urging Kenyans to maintain peace during this electioneering period.

“Tusibleed ndio walead,” he would say. This loosely translates to “We shouldn’t bleed so that they can lead.”
