Joho drags Uhuru into his forgery case

A lawyer representing embattled Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho in forgery cases has dragged President Uhuru Kenyatta into the case.

While arguing the proceeding of the case before Justice Eric Ogola, Joho’s lawyer James Orengo said that his client is maliciously being targeted by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.

Orengo said that Joho’s woes began after a standoff between Joho and Uhuru at the Coast one month ago with an aim to bar Joho from contesting any elective seat come August 8.

“The utterances by Kenyatta directed to Joho, in March cannot be taken lightly, because the number of cases popping up from KRA, Kenya National Examinations Council, DPP and AG are all meant to find a basis to stop Joho from running for the gubernatorial seat,” argued Orengo.

Joho had moved to court to block his arrest pending forgery charges that he has been slapped with.

Justice Ogola extended the order to April 26 when he will give a ruling on the matter.

In March, The ODM Deputy Party Leader was summoned by the Directorate of Criminal Investigation to explain how he got a fake K.C.S.E result slip wit a C+ grade that got him admitted to University of Nairobi (UoN)before transferring credits to enter Kampala University.

It later emerged that his authentic result slip indicated he scored a D- in K.C.S.E which he sat for in 1992 at Serani Secondary School in Mombasa.
