Uhuru ‘s call for six-piece in Kiambu suffers blow as voters differ with him

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s campaign to have a six-piece voting style in his Kiambu backyard has hit a snag after voters from the region held a different view.

During his Sunday tour to Kiambu and Thika areas, the President got a clear message from his supporters who held-high banners telling him that they will support him but the rest of the leaders; it is up to them to decide.

However, in a show of defiance, he went ahead while at Thika Stadium to urge voters to elect Jubilee nominated leaders.

He pleaded with the electorate to give him leaders whom he can work with and went ahead to identify Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu (governor nominee), Alice Ng’ang’a (Thika) among others.

But even as this happened, some pro-William Kabogo supporters held high their banners.

For instance, in Ruiru, when Deputy President William Ruto was addressing voters from the area and drummed support for Waititu, banners with Kabogo’s image went high up in the air.

Jubilee supporters noted that this time round, they do not want “suits”.

“Last time, we elected suits and we do not have anything to smile about. We cannot do the same mistake again because we have suffered enough,” one voter added.

Last week, Kabogo warned that as independent candidates, they should not be ignored.

He said they have the capacity to determine who becomes Kenya’s next President.

Similar calls have also emerged from other Jubilee strongholds such as western.

NASA is also drumming for a six-piece piece voting model in its strongholds but their call has also been met with resistance.
