President Uhuru Kenyatta may miss out on the forthcoming Presidential debate.

According to Nation Media Group, Uhuru’s handlers have revealed that he has not been formally invited by the organizers of the debate to the event.

“The Jubilee Presidential candidate or his official representatives have yet to get an invite to plan, or participate in the planning of the debate,” said one of the President’s handlers.

Secondly, Uhuru reportedly has a very tight schedule that winds up on the elections day.

“The [President’s] campaign schedule is already drawn till the last day of campaigns, no consultation on dates and venue [of the debate] have been made,” added the handler.

The debate, an adoption of the American style, is scheduled for July 10 and July 24 when 8 Presidential candidates are expected to face each other head on.

Earlier, the organizers of the event had released tough guidelines that would only have Uhuru and NASA’s Raila Odinga as the only two Presidential candidates at the debate.

This is because the two candidates are the only ones among the eight who enjoy relatively huge support from Kenyans.

Bit this was greatly protested by the other candidates who felt that they were being sidelined that the two being favored.

The handler noted that at some point, he has resulted in thinking that the debate has been organized for top Editors and not Presidential candidates.

“Sometimes we think it’s a media debate being planned between top Editors of media houses, or the best political reporters on the issue of the day, and not a Presidential debate.”
