A family from Kayole estate in Naivasha is yet to come to terms with the death of their kin who was brutally murdered in Germany on Wednesday.

Mary Waithera, 27, was found murdered on the floor of her shop in Essen, Germany where she had been working as a nurse.

She has been in Germany for the last eight years.

German police in their report said she was stabbed on the chest by an unknown assailant who got into her retail shop.

They quickly responded to a homicide as had been reported but when they arrived at the scene, they found a lifeless body.

Waithera was the second born in her family. She has been supporting them in a big way according to her mother Alice Kamathi.

Her mother who is diabetic said she was struck by shock upon learning about her daughter’s death two days ago.

“My firstborn son and I are diabetic. Since my husband died seven years ago we have been relying on my daughter,” she told the Star.

She said her daughter’s last visit was last year and she has fond memories of her.

Kamathi asked Kenyan government to intervene.

“Waithera visited us last year. We have special memories. I pray that no family undergoes the pain we are feeling.”

The deceased’s brother, Samuel Njuguna said he has been in contact with the Kenyan Embassy in Germany but has been referred to the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Nairobi.

Njuguna said the pain of losing a loved one in such a beastly way is quite painful.

“This is the most painful moment for our family. The person behind this beastly act should be arrested,” protested Njuguna.

The family is now appealing to well-wishers to help them financially to enable Waithera’s body to be flown in.

This is the second murder of a Kenyan in Germany.

On January 5, the body of Brian Nyawade Owino was found at Ostkreuz train station on January 5. He had been reported missing since December 29, 2017.

The events surrounding his death are still a mystery.
