Multiple sources now say that Tecra Muigai, daughter of Keroche Breweries proprietors Tabitha and Joseph Karanja may have died from a fall at a holiday home in Lamu.

Sources privy to the case say she fell off the balcony of a luxurious holiday home in Lamu where she had been living since early April with a friend.

Conflicting reports, however, state that she fell off a flight of stairs in a cottage she was living in with her alleged boyfriend Omar Lali of Shella town.

She is said to have been found lying unconscious on the floor by neighbours. She was airlifted from Lamu to Nairobi Hospital.

Tecra is said to have suffered from cerebral-oedema, which is a swelling in the brain occasioned by the fall.

“She was in ICU for three days before she passed on,” a source who asked not to be named stated.

She was set to be operated on to relieve her of the pain which could potentially cause brain damage.

Tecra was the Director of Strategy and Innovation at Keroche Breweries.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation has now taken up the matter and is probing if it was an accident or a homicide.

Neighbours say they woke up her ‘boyfriend’ Lali who was oblivious of what had happened.

An autopsy is yet to be conducted. DCI asked the family to hoard it until it concludes its investigations.

In a statement, Keroche Breweries told newsrooms that they regret her death caused by a “tragic accident”.

“Tecra’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of important innovations that enriched the company’s product range including the development of new brands that we scheduled to be launched this year,” the statement read.
