Jubilee has honoured a pact it made with Gideon Moi led Kanu party before 2017 elections by having one of its members take over as Senate Majority Leader.

West Pokot Senator Samuel Poghision of Kanu party replaced Kipchumba Murkomen after the Jubilee coalition Senate Parliamentary Group Meeting that was held at Statehouse Nairobi and chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday.

Poghisio will be deputized by Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo Adan who is the new deputy Majority Leader.

Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata replaced Senator Susan Kihika as the Majority Chief Whip deputized by Nominated Senator Farhiya Ali Haji.

Following the change of leadership in the Senate, Statehouse Spokesperson Kanze Dena-Mararo said that “His Excellency the President congratulated the new Jubilee Coalition Senate leaders and assured them of his support. The President who is also the Party Leader of the Jubilee Coalition said he looks forward to working closely with the new Senate Leadership in delivering services to Kenyans.”

Murkomen in a tweet after the development thanked his supporters for “showing him love.”

“I thank all my friends for the overwhelming love and support. I am stronger than ever before. I will be coming back to you later with more updates. One love,” he tweeted.
