Kenya on Wednesday recorded 679 new coronavirus cases bringing the total 28,104, Health CAS Dr Mercy Mwangangi announced.
The ministry tested 6,590 samples in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative samples tested so far to 369,051.
Out of the new cases recorded on Wednesday, 400 were male and 279 were female the youngest being a one-year old.
However a huge number of patients, 743 were discharged after making full recovery bringing the total recoveries to 14,610.
A majority of them, 685 were from home-based care while 58 were from various hospitals.
Sadly, 18 people died bringing the death toll to 456. Of the 18, 15 had underlying conditions.
Dr Mwangangi eulogized Dr Kamau Mugenda who was a scientist at the Kenya Medical Research Institute (Kemri).
