724 new COVID-19 cases recorded, 14 dead

Kenya recorded 724 new cases on Monday bringing the country’s total caseload to 56,601. 

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe while speaking in Malindi said that 5,085 samples were tested in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative tests to 704,605.

Out of the 724 cases, the youngest was a one-year-old and the oldest was 84 years old.

A total of 248 were discharged. Out of this, 178 of them were from home-based care programe while another 70 had been receiving treatment in different hospital across the country.

The total recoveries are now at 37,442.

Sadly, 14 patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of fatalities to 1,027.

The CS expressed concern with the high rate of deaths reported in the last week with more than 100 deaths.
