YouTuber and blogger Edgar Obare, media personality Betty Kyalo and Comedian Flaqo (Erastus Otieno) have emerged winners of the Africa Digital Influencer Awards (ADIA20).

The three Kenyans were among 19 other digital influencers across Africa who won the award in the inaugural ceremony.

The three were awarded for the role they play in the society using their digital platforms. They were described as people who have managed to impact society positively in 2020.

The award ceremony went down at Konza Technopolis.

Chris Bitti, the Africa Digital Leadership Principal & Co-Founder said they received a lot of feedback on the inaugural ceremony adding that it is testament the creative industry remains a potential investment zone.

Bitti held that the inaugural award event will continue with the aim of challenging and raising the standards in the industry.

“This is an industry that has a lot of potential to employ our young people. Together with our partners, we will do our very best to hold it annually,” stated the Africa Digital Leadership Principal & Co-Founder.

Obare has been in the news circles on social media for the better part of 2020 over his dossiers exposing celebrities “ bad habits”.

Obare who also goes by the moniker the “Tea Master” first hit the headlines in 2020 after posting explosive dealings by the “Boys Club” which comedian and radio personality Felix Oduor alias Jalang’o was part of.

The “Boys Club” expose stirred a debate on women self-worth in the 21st century.

Before the dust settled, Obare was back with private details of Natalie Tewa, a sassy YouTuber who was rumoured to be involved with Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.

This landed him in the dock as Natalie sued him for breach of privacy. The case is currently ongoing.

Flaqo served as an inspiration to hopeless Kenyans as he defied rejection to become a highly-sought after brand influencer through his comical skits.

Betty has also made huge strides in women empowerment as since her exit from the screen sometime in 2020.

She has been working at her beauty parlour, Flair by Betty situated in upmarket Nairobi.

Betty recently opened another parlour for men in the same location.
