Nakuru High Court has issued a guilty verdict on Jane Muthoni, wife to the late Kiru Boys’ High School Principal Solomon Mwangi over his murder.

Justice Joe Ngugi found Muthoni guilty together with her accomplice Isaac Ng’ang’a.

The duo will be sentenced on May 18, 2021. They have since been placed under police custody.

Mwangi was reported missing in November 2016. His body was found dumped at a coffee plantation in Juja on November 6.

Upon investigation, police traced Mwangi’s disappearance to Muthoni who was also a teacher at Icaciri Secondary School.
She had served in this school for a while.

In court, the Prosecution argued that Muthoni masterminded her husband’s murder and went on to hire his killers.

Among the hitmen hired for the murder was Ng’ang’a. The late Kiru Boy’s principal according to investigations had taken a Ksh10 million loan before his death.

The murder reportedly took place between November 6, 2016, and November 11, 2016. The scene of the murder was placed at Karakuta Coffee Estate in Juja.

Four years later, only Muthoni and Ng’ang’a have been arrested as a third suspect, Nelson Njiru remains on the run.

The motive of the murder is yet to be established even as the suspects wait for sentencing.

They are part of a growing number of murder cases by lovers. In the four years, there have been more than 15 cases reported of couples killing each other for different reasons.

Clinical psychologists Gladys Chania remarks that this trend is dangerous.

She asked warring couples to go separate ways if they cannot work out their differences other than killing each other.
