Police have established that seven associates of the Kitengela four have died in inexplicable circumstances in the last three years.

The quartet; Elijah Obuong (30), Benjamin Imbai (30), Brian Oduor (35) and Jack Anyago (37) disappeared mysteriously on April 19.

Only the bodies of Imbai and Obuong have been found dumped in Murang’a and Thika respectively.

Detectives investigating their disappearance are following leads that they operated in cahoots with a local bank where they would trail customers after withdrawing money and rob them.

They had their area of operation in Machakos, Kajiado, Nairobi, and Mombasa.

The Kitengela four have been linked to robbery activities with former Upper Savanna Ward aspirant, Victor Jakambare.

Jakambare was killed and his body dumped in Kinale Forest years back. He is said to have broken into a car belonging to a man who had just left a local bank in Ongata Rongai and made away with Ksh900,000.

In 2017, People Daily reported that Obuong, Imbai and Oduor were arrested in Makupa due to their involvement in crime together with Chege Gitau. They were later released.

Gitau was later gunned down in 2017 outside his home in Tudor. Police said the unknown gunmen had trailed him from Kitengela and shot him 10 times as he waited for the gate to be opened.

Chege was at one time arrested and charged with theft of goods worth Ksh23 million. He was charged alongside Oduor and released on Ksh100,000 cash bail.

Oduor had an active court case in Mombasa scheduled for hearing on May 13. Before he disappeared, he had been arrested in Embakasi over a motorbike he allegedly sold to a minor.

Imbai, on the other hand, was arrested in 2016 alongside Athumani Kamau Hussein alias Ramadhan for allegedly breaking into a car and stealing Ksh100,000 from Morris Odero.

Odero had left a local bank in Mombasa and the duo trailed him and stole his money.

Anyago, on the other hand, claimed to have been working as cabin crew for Etihad. He has several con cases reported.

One of them was that where he conned a lady, Claire Ochola Ksh133,500 under the guise of getting her a position at Kenya Airways Pride Centre.

He also conned Dayan Oburu Ksh560,000 and she reported the matter to the police. He was locked up for two weeks and paid Ksh480,000 and promised to pay the rest afterwards which he never did.
