Robbers stormed Kajiado Post Bank branch and held the staff hostage before they made their way to the strong room and grabbed Sh2 million on Saturday.

The Bank was at the time of the incident unguarded according to the Star. It has only two private guards and only one was on duty during the incident.

Kajiado OCPD James Kimani said the three armed robbers entered the bank at around 1pm and ordered the staff to lead them to the strong room.

With pistols in their hands, the workers could not do anything much other than comply.

“According to the bank’s staff, the robbers were armed with guns when they walked in and locked the door behind them. After locking them in the strong room, the gangsters collected the money and walked away,” said the Kajiado OCPD.

Post Bank, unlike other banks in the town is not guarded by police officers.

Police were alerted about the incident two hours later by a lady who works at a hotel adjacent to the bank.

“She heard noises coming from the direction of the bank and alerted the police. When our men arrived, the robbers had already left.”

Police who responded were forced to shoot in the air to get a clue if the robbers were still holed up in the bank.
