David Kiprotich is reported to have fainted after covering 7 out of 30 kilometers they were to cover.

He was pronounced dead on arrival to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.

Fellow athlete who was on tracks with Kiprotich, Laban Mutai said he was doing fine and had no health issue.

“We usually converge for training in the morning. The day’s program was to cover 30km but after the seventh kilometer, I just saw him fall down,” he narrated.

“We did first aid before I went back to the camp to get my car to take him to the hospital. However, when I arrived, he had been rushed by another person.”

Kiprotich is the third athlete who has lost his life while training since the last incident happened in 2016.
