A Cabinet Secretary or Governor’s position is a job post too low for me, says Central Organization for Trade Union (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli.

He observes a CS job does not befit his status because he speaks for “Africa.”

“CS cannot employ me. I speak for Africa, number two in the world of work. How do I lower myself? He posed during an interview with Jeff Koinange at Citizen TV JKL show Wednesday night.

He said even if he was appointed by the President, he would not take up the job.

“Even if I was appointed a CS, I would ask the President to hand over the position to one of my children. How do you make Francis Atwoli a CS, a most celebrate labor leader in the world?”

He notes a CS job is too “small” for him and justifies his stand by asking how many COTU Secretary Generals there are in Kenya juxtaposed to the number of Cabinet Secretaries in the country.

“How many Cabinet Secretaries do we have? [18] How many Secretary Generals of COTU do we have in this country [1].”

Atwoli says he is third in command after President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.

Speaking matters ongoing impasse between Jubilee, NASA and the IEBC, he said both political factions need to dialogue and create an accommodating environment.

He also asked Jubilee duo, Uhuru and DP William Ruto to respect the opposition.

However, he noted “even without rigging, Uhuru can still win elections.”

“Right now he is campaigning, my friends in NASA are busy here; none of them has gone down to campaign in various places out there and this is undoing in politics.”
